Oral history interview with Virgil C. Adams, 1982 February 11.

Interview with Virgil C. Adams concerning his experiences as owner and operator of Adams Exterminating Company in Denton, Texas. Adams discusses his family background, his father's employment with Morrison Milling Company and International Exterminating Company in Denton, his experiences in the Navy at the end of World War II, and his employment with his father's company, Adams Exterminating, in 1950. He comments on the public view of the pest control business in the 1940s, Purdue University's courses on pest control, business competitors, "self-policing" within the pest control business, the development of a large sprayer dealership, the contrast between old and current methods of pest control, and ant problems. Adams talks about the expansion of the company, the requirements for the licensing of a pest control business, the variety of pesticides available, government regulations, the expansion of the market, his civic and trade association activities, and his duties as President of the Texas Pest Control Association.
